Rick: I see that the next meeting is in a month or so. What kind of things do you think that we need to accomplish by then? Do you have Skype on your computer or should I tell you about it. Let me know what you think and what you guys discussed after I left.

The next meeting is: December 3, 2007-->9:15 - 3:00 pm
When doing our units, can we include: different adaptations? All notes? All assessments? All rubrics?

Inquiry learning is:
1) Asking the question, "Why?", and not getting upset at the question.
2) A paradigm shift away from previous models of teaching and thinking.
3) Asking a relevant question and searching for the answer.
4) Thinking through the question and the possible answers.

Inquiry learning is not:
1) Regurgitation.

Essential Question: How do we empower students to ask questions and care about the answers?

I would postulate that the main reason why we are seeing a decrease in inquiry is because the family unit is being disrupted. This is only going to get worse until something is drastically done to improve the family, the importance of parents within that unit, and the requirement and responsibility of parents to train their children and help them learn and be productive and respectful citizens within Canada. Students need to know that there are absolutes, there is right and wrong, and that they cannot trust all information that is out there.

Group: Check Natasha's page for a diagram. Check Roxanne's page for a
Find items that are personal to them. Get into arguments? Play the devil's advocate from both sides of the equation. Inquiry learning is not just controversy--it's literally getting kids to think, taking them out of their comfort zones.

Inquiry learning is risking failure and learning from it; not being afraid of failure. It is not teacher provided answers, regurgitation. There is a purpose for the answer. Non-example = asking any question or not having a reason for a question.
